Proudly Serving the Communities of Hampton and Newport News since 1971

YOUTH AND FAMILY CLINICAL SERVICES

Overview

The Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board believes that each child deserves the best treatment possible and that this treatment should be provided in the community.  We believe that parents or guardians of the child should be involved in all aspects of the child’s care—from the initial evaluation to a participating role in treatment.  We treat families with respect and compassion and we help parents and/or guardians participate fully in their child’s treatment.

Our staff represents multiple specialties including adolescent and child psychiatry, psychology, social work, nursing and case management.  All of our psychiatrists are board certified and our clinicians have extensive experience and training in the special needs of children and adolescents.

All treatment plans are individualized to meet the special needs of the child and his or her parents/guardians.  The treatment team may include psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, counselors, in-home therapists and nurses.  A child/adolescent case manager will coordinate all care while the child is in treatment.  In addition, the case manager will help to link the child and parents/guardians with other community supports and services.

Children’s Comprehensive Outpatient Services

Welcome to Child & Adolescent Comprehensive Outpatient Services

We provide a complete array of services for children, adolescents, young adults, and families experiencing emotional and behavioral difficulties.  Services include individual, family, and group therapy provided by licensed therapists.  These therapists have specialized training in areas such as resolution of trauma, victims of sexual or physical abuse, adoption competent services, and work with sexual offenders.  Psychiatric services are provided by licensed psychiatrists and include assessment and ongoing medication management.  Our clinical psychologist focuses on psychological testing and assessment of children, adolescents, and adults.  This service assists with the understanding of emotional, behavioral, and cognitive functioning so that diagnoses can be clarified and treatment recommendations can be made more accurately.

All members of our outpatient team work together to develop strength based treatment approaches to meet the needs of our clients and families.
